Something New Growing: A Farm in Your Pocket?
Most Australians have probably invested in a bank, a mining company, property or a managed fund.
But how many of us have ever had the opportunity to invest in a crop, a beehive, a herd of cattle or help finance a farmer's next season?
That question caught my attention when I came across IIF.today
I'm not a financial adviser and this isn't financial advice. I'm simply encouraging Australians to become aware of another way of thinking about agriculture and investment.
For generations, Australian farmers have relied on banks and traditional lenders to finance the next crop, expand their operations or simply get through another season. Access to capital has never been easy, particularly during droughts, floods and uncertain markets.
IIF (Invest Inya Farmer Co-operative) is exploring a different path.
Its platform connects everyday Australians with selected agricultural projects, allowing people to participate in opportunities that support primary producers while sharing in the outcome if those projects succeed. Rather than simply investing in another listed company, the concept is about connecting people more directly with the businesses that produce our food.
That idea deserves attention.
For many years we've spoken about supporting Australian farmers. Perhaps supporting them can mean more than buying Australian produce at the supermarket. Perhaps it can also mean helping farmers gain access to new sources of capital.
Whether you're a gardener, a farmer, an investor or simply someone interested in the future of Australian agriculture, I believe it's worth understanding how these new models are developing.
As with every investment, take your time. Read the information carefully. Understand the opportunities, understand the risks and make decisions that suit your own circumstances.
Innovation isn't only about new machinery or new crop varieties.
Sometimes innovation is about finding better ways to connect communities with the people who feed them.
IIF.today is one example of that thinking.
Have a look. Read. Ask questions. Then decide for yourself.
Earthfood is backing the farmers and the food producers because sometimes it is the right thing to do now.
We’re on a mission to break down the barriers between the people who grow our food and everyone who eats it. The IIF app is a ridiculously easy way to back our farmers and the food they produce. Everyone benefits. Jump on the tractor!
